About Millstone at 74 Main – History
20 years ago Rich Stockwell worked for local “Bubba Williams” at the Grey House in New London, now known as the Flying Goose Pub. Later he went on to work in the kitchen of the Millstone for then owner Tom Mills. It was during this time Rich found a passion for the restaurant business. Continuing his love for the food industry, Rich went on to work for the Ruby Tuesday’s corporation for 7 years. Then he returned back to the area where he became the General Manager for the Lake Sunapee Country Club in New London where he did it all, and a little golfing too, for 15 years. Now his dream has come true of being a restaurant owner. So in 2014, Rich has decided to blend old and new; an old restaurant with a new image.
When coming up with a name to call the new restaurant, Rich decided to keep the name ‘Millstone’, but just add on to it. ‘74’ comes from the physical location of the building on Newport Road in New London. Main is based on the main road that runs through the center of town.
So, welcome to an old restaurant with a new face in the heart of the Lake Sunapee Region of New Hampshire. We hope you join us to enjoy a fun atmosphere, good drinks, and the best food.
